> TalkTalk - was going to try them for broadband until I was on their website on that infamous day last week and nothing worked - then the next day I found out why. Not happy with her tone or her information. You could even hear how frustrated/annoyed she was that I was asking the question when she was trying to close a sale (another contract). > BT (3 years ago completely lost my order when I ordered online even though I had the confirmation email to prove - go figure!) and now the customer service person has annoyed me even more. YouView+ HD TV Recorder HDD 500GB 1TB DTR-T2000 YouView+ HD Digital TV Recorder is an easy way of enjoying the very best in digital TV, catch up players, video on demand content and recording from a slim & stylish single set top box. > Virgin (completely cocked up everything when I switched away from them 3 years ago) So my list of providers that have upset me in some way or other in recent years: Sounds like it's time to try it and see what happens. So looks like BT Customer service are still spouting the same old BS. Just plug the Stream box into your TV to access faves like Sky Sports, Sky Cinema, and Netflix (if you subscribe), as well as all the TV channels and apps. Also, it’s very easy to couple up two Youview recorders and get the ability to record four tv programmes. There are many still available second hand via Ebay and Amazon, some still unboxed. In nearly every thread I found a BT person had to step in and say basically what is in the link I posted. The best box I've ever used is literally a YouView box. There seem to be a number of posts on the BT Community forums where people have been told that cancelling their sub will result in the box becoming effectively a glorified door stop. Other links I found alongside that one seem to suggest you are not alone in getting the "your box is a pile of useless tat if you ever have the temerity to leave the wonderful BT service" line spun at you. video on demand content and recording from a slim & stylish single set top box. And staff should be very clear with consumers because this approach is bound to persuade the majority to stay with the service from BT when it seems they don't have to. YouView has lots of great free TV channels, catch up and on demand. This is the kind of sales approach that leaves a very bad taste in the mouth. In the UK you don't have to pay for Freeview, and yet you're saying I have to pay?"īasically she said, "I wouldn't call it 'paying' but we have to charge you for it in order for you to use the Youview+ box to get TV on BT". I said "I already own the box.and I only want standard Freeview I don't need any other channels. She said "no you must pay us in order to use the channels". ![]() ![]() It's very annoying because I asked the lady at BT (who was trying to sell me a new contract for a new house that I'm moving into) if I could use MY BT youview+ box with Freeview and not pay the BT TV subscription. Thanks Chris, That post you linked to looks quite clear.
